We operate 21 water treatment plants and 21 wastewater treatment plants and have a team of 175 staff working from Wodonga, Wangaratta, Benalla, Yarrawonga, Rutherglen, Corryong, Beechworth, Mt Beauty and Bright.

Have you ever wondered how we got to where we are today?

Our water story has been shaped by Native Australians, early settlers, the gold rush era, technological advancements and growing populations. All this has led to an increased need for a secure water supply.

The infrastructure that we operate today was influenced by pioneers who achieved engineering successes and realised innovative solutions to meet the changing needs of the communities that we serve today.

North East Water is the result of a number of mergers, and the passion, knowledge and expertise that has been passed on to us from our predecessors.

In knowing our story so far, we can learn from the successes and challenges navigated by those who came before us. The knowledge of our history provides us with a strong sense of identity and a solid foundation from which to shape our vision; to navigate through present and future challenges and to realise our achievements and successes.

It’s clear that many people have played a pivotal role in shaping our history and that each and every one of us has a significant role in how our water story will unfold going forward.
